Official FEMA Flood Maps and Letters of Map Revision
On February 21, 2007, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revised its Flood Insurance Rate Maps that include the Meadowview and Pocket communities. These revisions moved approximately 26,000 properties from high risk A99 flood zones to moderate risk X flood zones. Most South Area property that is located in an X flood zone will qualify for low-cost, Preferred Risk flood insurance.
To announce the map changes, FEMA issued two official documents—one to the City and the other to the County—known as Letters of Map Revision. Letters of Map Revision contain community and Flood Insurance Rate Map panel numbers that insurance agents and lenders use to determine the flood risk to property.
If you apply for a low-cost, Preferred Risk Policy, you will need to furnish your insurance agent with a copy of the appropriate Letter of Map Revision for your property. Alternately, if you plan to cancel your flood insurance, you will first need to furnish your lender with a copy of the appropriate Letter of Map Revision. (For more information, see How to Get a Low-Cost Preferred Risk Flood Insurance Policy / Know Your Risk If You Decide to Cancel Your Standard Policy.)
